Short answer

The X-T20 pairs the X-T2’s 24.3MP X-Trans III sensor with a small, light body. It has 15 film simulations including all four ACROS variants, but no in-body stabilisation and no weather sealing.

The X-T20 is the cheapest camera Fujifilm has ever sold with ACROS in it, and for a lot of people that is the entire reason to own one. It has the X-T2 sensor, the X-T2 processor and none of the X-T2 price.

ACROS is the reason

The X-Trans III generation introduced ACROS, and on the X-T20 you get all four variants with the grain algorithm that scales with ISO. Nothing cheaper had it at the time and nothing cheaper has it now on this sensor.

Classic Chrome, both PRO Neg. options and the full Monochrome set come with it. There is no Classic Negative or ETERNA.

The limits

Autofocus is a generation behind X-Trans IV and misses more on moving subjects. There is no stabilisation and no sealing. Video is 4K/30p with a ten-minute limit.

None of that matters for a walk-around camera in daylight, which is what most X-T20 owners use one for.

Common questions

X-T20 or X-T30?

The X-T30 has a newer sensor and much better autofocus. The X-T20 has ACROS on the older X-Trans III sensor, which some people prefer for colour. If price is equal, take the X-T30.

Does the X-T20 shoot 4K?

Yes, at 30p, but clips are limited to about ten minutes.
