Fujifilm X-T4

The first X-T with stabilisation, and still the best value used.

FUJIFILM X-T4

Short answer

The X-T4 was the first X-T with in-body stabilisation, rated at 6.5 stops. It has a 26.1MP X-Trans 4 sensor, a vari-angle screen, dual UHS-II slots and 18 film simulations. Discontinued, it is the best-value used Fujifilm you can buy.

The X-T4 is where Fujifilm decided the X-T line would be a hybrid. It added stabilisation, the bigger NP-W235 battery and a flip-out screen, and it annoyed enough stills photographers that the X-T5 reversed two of those choices.

Why it is the used buy

Everything that matters is here: IBIS, weather sealing, dual UHS-II slots, 500 shots per charge and 4K/60p in 10-bit. The 26MP sensor is arguably better in low light than the 40MP chip that replaced it.

What you miss is Nostalgic Neg., REALA ACE and the extra resolution. For most photography, none of those decide a picture.

The vari-angle screen argument

The X-T4 flips its screen out to the side. Video shooters wanted it; stills photographers found it slower for waist-level work than a tilt, and said so loudly enough that the X-T5 went back to tilting.

If you shoot video at all, the X-T4 screen is the better design. If you never do, the X-T5 or a used X-T3 will suit you more.

What is good

  • 6.5 stops of IBIS in a well-priced used body
Big NP-W235 battery, 500 shots
18 simulations including ETERNA Bleach Bypass
Dual UHS-II slots and full weather sealing

What is not

  • No Nostalgic Neg. or REALA ACE
Vari-angle screen is slower for stills
Heavier than the X-T5 at 607g

Verdict

If you want the most camera for the least money in 2026, buy a used X-T4. It does 90 per cent of what an X-T5 does for well under half the price.

Common questions

X-T4 or X-T5?

The X-T5 has 40MP, a tilting screen and is lighter. The X-T4 has a better battery, a vari-angle screen and costs far less used. For stills only, the X-T5; for hybrid work on a budget, the X-T4.

Does the X-T4 have Nostalgic Neg?

No. It has 18 simulations. Nostalgic Neg. debuted on the X-H2S in 2022.
